Karpet24.nl is a webshop run by CNL Handel BV, where you can browse and order rugs and carpets online. We want everyone to be able to use our website comfortably, including people with a disability. This page explains what we do about that.

What is this service?

Karpet24.nl is a webshop for rugs. Here you will find our range, product information and prices, and you can order directly through the site.

How does the service work?

You browse the collection or search by size, colour or style. Every product carries the information you need to make a choice. You put an item in your basket and complete the order through our secure checkout (provided by Shopify). After ordering you get a confirmation by email and can follow the status of your order.

How does Karpet24.nl meet the accessibility requirements?

We aim to bring the website as close as we can to the WCAG 2.1 level A/AA guidelines, the international standard for digital accessibility. Concretely, we have among other things:

  • given buttons and links in the basket, menu and search filters clear labels for screen readers;
  • made the mobile main menu (hamburger menu) more accessible;
  • hidden decorative icons from screen readers, so only relevant information is read out;
  • made breadcrumb navigation and current page status readable for assistive software.

Honestly: we are not there yet. Karpet24.nl is built on a standard Shopify theme that we improve step by step, but the site has not yet been fully tested or audited against every WCAG 2.1 AA criterion (think colour contrast in every component, full keyboard operation, and a complete screen-reader run from ordering to paying). So we do not claim everything is accessible already — but we are actively working on it.

How do we keep the site accessible in future?

  • New parts of the website are tested for accessibility as well before they go live.
  • We run a periodic self-scan (among others via ismijnsitetoegankelijk.nl) to spot obstacles.
  • Reports from visitors become concrete action points for removing barriers.
  • We update this statement as soon as something material changes.
